HOW DO I SUBMIT TO BE AN EXTRA?
Please find the "NOW CASTING" page above to see the projects we are currently casting for. Email submission details are listed on those "NOW CASTING" pages.
DO I NEED TO ANSWER EVERY QUESTION FOR THE SUBMISSION?
Yes please! Every question is important to our booking process even if it doesn’t seem like it initially. The most important information is your contact information (phone number especially) and current photos of yourself. Answer every question to the best of your ability and should we need anything from there we will let you know.
WHAT KIND OF PHOTOS SHOULD I SUBMIT?
Please send us CURRENT photos that show your current hairstyle, length, color and current facial hair (if applicable). We ideally want one close up photo of your face, and two full body photos. NO sunglasses, NO hats. We need to clearly see your face. Non-professional photos are fine! If you have a professional head shot you can send that as well, but it is not required and we always want a candid photo in addition to a headshot.
WHEN AM I GOING TO HEAR BACK?
After you submit via email you will likely not receive an immediate response that we’ve received your submission, HOWEVER don’t let that worry you! We receive a lot of emails and can’t always reply, but you will be added into our database! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear back about a role right away! Often times we are casting over the course of a few months so it may be halfway through filming, or even the end of filming before you hear from us.
AVAILABILITY CHECKS / BOOKING:
When we reach out to check your availability for a specific date, we will need you to be available ALL DAY for the specific date of filming we are asking about. ALL DAY means 12+ hours. We film for a minimum of 12 hours each day and we do not get the call times from production until the day before filming, so you must be flexible and available to start early and stay late when you are committing to being available for the ALL DAY 12+ hours commitment. Once you respond AVAILABLE for a day of extra work, we will add you to our list of available extras for that day. Call times and details will be sent out the day before your filming date. Please KEEP yourself available for the ALL-DAY commitment once you have responded AVAILABLE for that day of work. All details about what to bring, what to wear, where to be and what time you should be there will come the day before you work via email. So again please KEEP EYES ON YOUR EMAIL.
HOW CAN I EXPECT TO HEAR FROM YOU/RECEIVE INFORMATION?
We will always contact you via email first, so keep eyes on your email for the duration of filming so you can respond as soon as possible! Sometimes emails go to junk mail so check there too on occasion! ALL important information will come via email. If we can’t get a hold of you via email we may call you so be sure that your contact information is accurate so you don’t miss anything. Also make sure you voicemail box is set up and NOT full so we can leave you a message!
WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO BE THERE?
The night before your day of work we will send out a detailed email with your “call time” your call time is the time that you need to arrive and be checking in for the day. It is a good idea to plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early so that you can park and check-in smoothly. Should you be late for any reason (traffic, emergency, etc.) it is important to inform casting of your ETA so that they can plan accordingly. Please do not arrive TOO early for your call time, as production staff may not be there until 20-30 minutes ahead of your call time.
DO I NEED TO BUY CLOTHES?
No. When we send you details the day before, we will include wardrobe instructions for what to bring with you. What you need to wear can change depending on your role. Always wear your best clothing items that fit the description to the best of your ability and bring a back-up option on hangers to give wardrobe a selection. If you don’t have items that fit the descriptions exactly, that is OK. Do the best you can with the descriptions we can.
DO I NEED TO BRING FOOD/LUNCH?
Nope! Depending on your call time breakfast/lunch will be available as well as “crafty” which is the term used in film for a table of snacks and drinks. Many crew members are Vegan/Vegetarian/have food allergies, so you should always be able to find snacks that you can eat—don’t be afraid to ask catering or a PA (Production Assistant) if you have difficulty locating something to eat. If you are worried about there not being anything you like, you can always bring snacks with you and leave them in the holding area.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND?
No. For safety reasons we can’t have any additional people on set who are not booked for work as an extra or crew member that day. If you need a friend/family member to give you a ride to set that is OK, but they can’t stay for the day, they can only drop you off or pick you up in the designated parking area. If you have friends or family that are interested in working as extras, they can submit their information and photos to the project via email, and we can do our best to book them, we may even possibly be able to try to book you together for a day of work, though there is no guarantee.
HOW DO I GET PAID?
Unless otherwise specified, ALL roles that we cast are paid positions. The rates can vary from project to project. We will inform you of the rate for the project when we reach out to check your availability. Checks are sent in the mail 2-3 weeks after you work. The checks come from a payroll company, not directly from us. KEEP the Pink copy of your voucher for each day that you work for your records. The payroll company contact info is on that pink copy of your voucher in case you need to contact them.
